How Kelsey Reversed Pre Diabetes In 3 Months And Prepared For A Healthy Pregnancy
If you have been told you have pre diabetes and you want to reverse it before your next pregnancy, it can feel confusing to know what actually works.
You clean up your diet.
You follow meal plans.
You try pro metabolic eating, paleo, Whole 30, macro counting.
Yet your fasting blood sugar, after meal numbers, and A1c still sit in the pre diabetes range.
That is exactly where Kelsey started.
In this case study I will walk you through how Kelsey reversed pre diabetes in three months, lowered her A1c from 5.8 to 5.3, and prepared for a healthy pregnancy without cutting out carbs or following another restrictive protocol. You will see how a root cause approach can help you stabilize blood sugar, improve carb tolerance, and support both your health and your baby.

Kelsey’s Starting Point With Pre-Diabetes And Gestational Diabetes
Kelsey already knew a lot about blood sugar because of her previous pregnancy.
During that pregnancy she had gestational diabetes, worked closely with doctors and practitioners, and tried to keep her blood sugar in range as best as she could. After pregnancy she wanted to prevent that from happening again, so she tried to reverse pre diabetes on her own.
She experimented with:
Pro metabolic eating
Paleo and Whole 30
Macro counting
Clean eating and home cooked meals
Even with all of that effort her numbers were still stuck.
Fasting blood sugar stayed in the pre diabetes range
After meal blood sugar was higher than she wanted
A1c hovered around 5.8
She had done the DIY work. She had followed conventional advice through her providers. What she had never done was work with someone who specialized in blood sugar and pre diabetes in a holistic way.
Given her history and the lack of results so far she felt skeptical and cautious. If she invested again she wanted real change. Her goals were clear.
Reverse pre diabetes and bring A1c into a healthy range
Stabilize day to day blood sugar
Prepare for a future pregnancy without gestational diabetes
That is where we started together inside The Pohlman Method.
Step One: Finding Her Sweet Spots For Carbs And Stress
The first phase of The Pohlman Method is called Sweet Spots. The goal is to find the specific ranges that allow you to get the quickest blood sugar results without sacrificing your energy or quality of life.
For Kelsey that meant finding:
Her personal carb sweet spot
Her stress tolerance sweet spot
Her carb sweet spot
Kelsey had tried cutting carbs and she knew that was not sustainable. She needed carbohydrates to support:
Metabolism
Energy for daily life
A healthy future pregnancy
At the same time if carbs were too high for where her body was starting, it would increase insulin resistance and raise blood sugar and A1c.
Together we found a middle ground where she could:
Eat enough carbs for energy and hormone health
Avoid constant spikes in blood sugar
Feel full and satisfied so she could stick with it long term
This is a key part of how to reverse pre diabetes without cutting all carbs or living in fear of food.
Her stress sweet spot
Kelsey’s continuous glucose monitor (CGM) showed a very clear pattern. Her blood sugar would rise into a bell shaped curve through the middle of the day, even when meals looked reasonable.
Stress was the missing link.
So we worked on:
Supporting her during that midday window
Building stress tolerance so her nervous system was less reactive
Adjusting her routines so she had more breaks and more time to reset
When stress improved her blood sugar trends shifted. The bell shaped curve flattened and the spikes that used to show up in the middle of the day became smaller and more manageable.
Step Two: Metabolism Revival Better Carb Tolerance Without Sacrificing Health
The second phase in The Pohlman Method is Metabolism Revival. This is where we fine tune meals and lifestyle based on what the whole body responds to best, not just the blood sugar graph.
With Kelsey we focused on:
Meal composition that kept her full and steady
Timing of meals to support her energy and fasting blood sugar
Movement and sun exposure to improve insulin sensitivity
Many people chase perfect blood sugar at the expense of their overall health. They feel drained, hungry, and stressed even when the numbers look better.
We wanted both.
Stable blood sugar
Good energy
Mood and sleep that felt solid
Foundations that could support a healthy pregnancy
By layering in gentle movement, daily light exposure, and meals that worked with her body, she began to tolerate carbs better. Post meal blood sugars came down and she felt good while it was happening.
Step Three: Carb Freedom And Nutrient Labs To Prevent Gestational Diabetes Again
The third phase is Carb Freedom. Here we look deeper at the root causes that can make someone more carb sensitive and more prone to insulin resistance, especially in pregnancy.
For Kelsey this meant running a unique set of nutrient labs that she could not get from her regular doctor. These labs helped us see:
Nutrient deficiencies
Mineral imbalances
Systems that needed more support for long term carb tolerance
Using those results we created:
Personalized nutrition strategies that targeted her specific gaps
Lifestyle recommendations that matched her stress level and schedule
A plan to build resilience rather than just control symptoms
Gestational diabetes is often a state of under nourishment. The body does not have enough of the right nutrients to handle the demands of pregnancy and blood sugar begins to rise as a result.
By improving her nutrient status and giving her body more of what it needed we reduced her risk of going through gestational diabetes again and helped her reverse pre diabetes for good.
Kelsey’s Results Reversed Pre Diabetes And Stable Blood Sugar In Pregnancy
Over three months of working this plan Kelsey saw real, measurable changes.
A1c dropped from 5.8 to 5.3
She moved out of the pre diabetes range and reversed pre diabetes
Morning blood sugar came into a healthy range
Daytime blood sugar stayed in range even while eating carbs
Just as important she experienced big changes in how she felt.
She no longer felt like she had to deprive herself to see results
She felt calm and confident with food choices
She understood lifestyle factors beyond food that affect blood sugar, like sunlight, movement, and stress
When she became pregnant again she saw some of her best blood sugars yet. That pregnancy was a turning point in her mindset. She realized clearly that:
How she felt mentally and emotionally had a big impact on her blood sugar
When she felt hopeful, supported, and less stressed, her numbers looked better
We did not tell her she needed to be pregnant all the time to have good blood sugar. Instead we took the lesson and applied it to her routines and life. She made changes with:
Work and job stress
Daily structure and boundaries
How she built in rest and joy
This is what a whole body approach to reversing pre diabetes looks like. It is not just chasing perfect A1c. It is building a life and a metabolism that can hold stable blood sugar for the long term.
